Our Insight

During our research into Sydney schooling, we noticed a glaring lack of affordable after school education tools and support available to lower socio-economic students. They had to fend for themselves if they had trouble at school. We knew this was a gap that could be filled by UWS; and a way they could increase their proximity to their future students whilst displaying their generosity to the wider community. Not only could UWS provide a leg up for these students, but eventually offer them a place at the uni after high school.
Our Insight

A Social Network

Our strategy was to create a branded utility that gave students the edge at school. An educational tool that was responsive to high schools students’ needs and spoke directly to them in their language. We wanted to break new ground between social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn and create a place online where students are given the advantages they need to succeed on their educational journey. We created Pango, a community where high school students can flourish into university students, a place where students could interact with one another, share, create study groups and do much more.

The Results

Since its inception, Pango has attracted over 4,700 users and 36,500 unique page views. Timestorm, our original educational game exclusive to Pango, launched to critical acclaim from educators and students alike. By increasing UWS’s proximity and responsiveness to high school students, we’ve provided the university a great tool for communicating with and providing to these potential UWS students. What we are most proud of is that we have set up an inspiring and enduring educational tool that levels the playing field for all aspiring university students.
